It was one year ago today that we closed on our house. I really can’t believe it’s already been a year. We’ve done a ton of work over the past twelve months, with still so much more to go. I’d love to share with you what our home looks like today. I’ll be giving you a tour of our place throughout the month of April room by room.
I don’t really know what the technical word for this room would be. The entryway? Whatever you want to call it, we’ve turned it into our client meeting area. It’s so great to have a designated space in our home where we can have our wedding consultations. Prior to buying this house, I was meeting clients in places like starbucks or panera. It’s so nice to finally be able to have a nice quiet location to meet people in and it’s great that I no longer have to schedule meetings hours apart because I’m driving from one side of town to the other.

The first thing you’ll probably notice is the paint color. It’s Behr’s midsummer gold. Josh was not happy about me picking yellow for the hallway but I wanted something bright and happy with all of the dark wood. I also wanted to use colors from our brand since this is the room that clients would be seeing. Painting that hallway was a feat. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my amazing siblings. I’m definitely happy with how it turned out. I hope to eventually paint the ceiling a really light gray. I’m just not a fan of brown, what can I say. (ps. I did not intend for that to rhyme.)
It took a lot of trial and area trying to figure out how to layout this room due to the fact that it is round. This house has quite a bit of square footage to furnish and decorate, so we’ve definitely been creative with diy projects and thrift store finds.
A local theater company in Northside had a tag sale a few years ago and I was able to snatch this couch up for only $10!! The chair was found on craigslist and I was planning to reupholster it but actually ended up painting the legs and the fabric. After finding tutorials online about others that had painted fabric chairs, I decided to give it a shot. It suprisingly turned out great. I wish I had taken a before picture but it was previously green. The side table was found at goodwill.
We found this trunk at an antique mall for ten bucks and just added some leg plates and wooden legs (painted white of course) to the bottom of it to turn it into a coffee table. We screwed the plates directly to the bottom of the trunk and the legs screw into the plates. This is probably one of the easiest diy projects you can do.
